In memory of my brother, Bryon Tyler Burdick, it's fund raising time! Since you have been so supportive in the past here is information on this year's event.

I'm training for and running my 11th annual charity run and this version will include something a little different... I will be pushing my son in a jog stroller this year. Yes, I'll be pushing all 60 plus pounds of Bryon Arrowood Burdick (and the stroller) for the entire half-marathon.

Bryon Tyler died in 1989 from Leukemia and we have raised over $75,000 together for various, excellent causes in his memory since 2003! This year's charity is the Food Bank of Central and Eastern NC and they fight hunger by providing food to soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters, as well as through programs for children and adults. Every dollar donated makes it possible to distribute $10 worth of food or 5 meals. Their administrative overhead is 3%, so an impressive 97% of every dollar goes directly to feeding those in need.

The race we're doing is the Baltimore Running Festival Half Marathon on October 18th. I've been logging about 50 miles a week including various training runs with Bryon but I don't fully know what to expect for my pace on race day, you know, because of the whole stroller thing. I can promise though that we'll finish and I'll run as hard as I can.

I would love for you to donate to the run or to simply ask me how the training is going. My goal for this year is to raise $7,000; Thanks to you, we raised over $7,800 last year! I know we can make a difference through the Food Bank this year. Keisha and I will happily match at least the highest donation that is received.

Please see the "About US" link at the top for more information or check out this link (http://www.charitynavigator.org/index.cfm?bay=search.summary&orgid=3708) for the independent Charity Navigator ratings site who gave them a 4 (out of 4) rating. Here are more details about their impact in central and eastern NC: http://www.foodbankcenc.org/about_financials.

Love,
Matthew
