Next time you volunteer, visit, or bring donations to Food Bank CENC in Raleigh, make sure you double check the address in your GPS!

After almost two decades at Tarheel Drive, you will no longer find the Food Bank there. As of November 21, 2016 all Raleigh operational aspects are running out of our sparkling new facility at 1924 Capital Boulevard!

We are very excited for the expanded hunger-fighting possibilities our new building provides. But don’t take our word for it:

“With three times as many coolers and freezers, more than twice the overall square footage, and space for teaching kitchens and classrooms, the new facility is a truly impressive upgrade, capable of pushing out more food to families in need… The food bank plans to take advantage of that space with several new initiatives that include a community health department, which brings in food pantry and soup kitchen volunteers to provide nutritious food and teach people how to prepare it. A teaching kitchen and new recipes will help food-insecure people learn new ways to utilize what they get. The Food Bank will hold résumé preparation workshops and classes on financial literacy, too.” – Raleigh Agenda

“Volunteers are already noticing the benefits of the larger warehouse. ‘We’re already able to do a great job with the sorting,” said Diane Pease, who volunteers for the Food Bank through Cisco. “[We’re] getting a lot more done than we normally would just because of the space.’” – ABC11

“The new building, at 1924 Capital Blvd. in Raleigh, is 85,000 square feet – more than double the size of the previous facility on Tarheel Drive. It features more freezer and cooler space for perishable foods, more room for volunteers and increased loading-dock space.” – News & Observer

With more space, comes more food – and healthier food. As our Food Resource Coordinator, Mari Carl Fisher, told Time Warner Cable News:

“We’ll be able to increase the amount of perishable food that we bring in, more healthy foods. More produce, more dairy, more meats, things like that that folks really need in our communities.”

We hope you’ll come by soon to see our new Raleigh home!
