Students Against Hunger
October-December, 2014
Did you know that almost 50% of students in our 34 county service area qualify for free or reduced-price lunch? It is difficult for any student to excel academically when they come to school hungry. So we invite all students, staff, parents and teachers to join our Students Against Hunger food and funds drive to help feed hungry children and their families in our community. Food Lion Hunger Relief Day

Get ready for Food Lion Hunger Relief Day on October 23th! For the 11th consecutive year, Food Lion will sponsor Hunger Relief Day at the North Carolina State Fair. Bring five (5) cans of Food Lion brand food and receive a ticket for free admission! Learn more at www.ncstatefair.org.

Heart of Carolina & Drive Through Day
November 21-December 10, 2014
The 28th annual ABC11 Heart of Carolina food drive kicks off on November 21 and wraps up with a Drive Through Day on Wednesday, December 10 at select Kroger stores. Bring your food and cash donations by and meet our team, or watch us on ABC11 from 6:00 am-8:00 pm on December 10. Help us feed families this holiday season! More information coming soon.

We are thrilled to be the charity beneficiary of this great event at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on October 11! Food Bank volunteers will be there to accept your non-perishable and monetary donations all day. 5 items or $5 will get you to the front of the ticket line! RDU: Durham Bulls Fall Fan Fest
Saturday, October 18, 2014
The Durham Bulls will host their annual Fall Fan Fest on Saturday, October 18 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jerry Sands will be on hand to sign autographs and fans will be able to take batting practice and play catch on the field! Entry to this event is free with the donation of three canned food items for the Food Bank. For more information, please visit their website.

Wilmington: Food Day 2014
Friday, October 24, 2014
Once again the Food Bank at Wilmington is a proud participant in Wilmington’s Food Day 2014 at UNCW. The Food Bank will take part in the Sustainable Food Fair that includes activities such as an iron chef competition, kale eating competition, photo booths, raffles, and a food drive. Thanks to our partner agency, Nourish NC, we will be accepting fresh and non-perishable donations throughout the day. Food Bank staff members will also present “Food and Our Future” featuring our Weekend Power Pack programs. For more information, please visit foodday.org.

RDU: Raleigh Crop Hunger Walk
October 26, 2014
The annual Raleigh Crop Walk is the heart and "sole" of Raleigh! Make a team and help the Food Bank raise awareness and provide food for hungry people in our community. Where else can you see a glowing three-foot pickle descend down the company flagpole? Hear the Pickle Polka? And still be in bed long before midnight? Move For Hunger
The Food Bank is delighted to partner with Move For Hunger - an organization that offers to pickup unwanted, non-perishable food items during the moving process and deliver them to local food banks. Simply use one of the moving partners in our area and they will provide a box for food items. You can pack it or use their professional moving staff.
