Current Campaigns and Latest News:

168 posts by 37 SMAs in July!

Hard to believe it, but back to school season is upon us (though our Kids Summer Meals program continues until August 23). In case you missed it, through your own gifts and help spreading the word, our #StopSummerHunger initiative raised enough funds for 4.6 million meals! That's a huge difference to kids who miss out on school breakfasts & lunches all summer long. Thank you!

Special shout out to Tessa Nguyen, RD, LDN for publishing a blog post about her VIP Food Bank Tour! Give it a read, and email Lindsay if you would like to take a VIP tour.  Another special shout out to Adam Whitesell for celebrating his birthday with a Facebook Fundraiser for the Food Bank! Adam's friends and family donated enough for over 2,000 meals! Visit facebook.com/fund/FoodBankCENC if you'd like to hold a Facebook Fundraiser too.

Hunger Action Month preview: #ShareYourWhy

This year for Hunger Action Month in September, we’re asking everyone we know to #ShareYourWhy – what makes fighting hunger so important to you, personally. It can be a text post, a picture that symbolizes your 'Why' or even a quick selfie video.

Even though it's not September yet, I'll start early by sharing my Why with you here: Fighting hunger has been an important mission of mine ever since I learned of people in such desperate situations that all they could afford to eat is pet food. You might find that hard to believe, but just this Spring we heard from a Senior who was surviving on cat food because it is was all she could afford. The way I take action is by working at the Food Bank and connecting with each of you to help raise awareness of hunger in NC and our programs & solutions.

This September, I hope you will join me and #ShareYourWhy on social media throughout the month. With our collective voices, we can make sure that the issue of hunger, and the solutions we can all help build, are lifted up.

Crystal DickenCome take a tour!

Ever wonder what it's like to tour the Food Bank in person? Just ask Social Media Ambassador Crystal Dee. She and I had a great time walking around and talking about our different programs and meeting some other staff. Check out her blog post!

I'd love to show each of you around your local Food Bank Branch. Shoot me an email <lhumbert@foodbankcenc.org> to set up a time!
