The Heart of Carolina Food Drive, led by ABC 11 Eyewitness News, brought together hundreds of local businesses, schools, clubs and individuals to raise food and funds for more than 560,000 children, parents and grandparents who are at risk of hunger throughout central & eastern North Carolina.

The Heart of Carolina Food Drive kicked off on November 22 and culminated on December 11 with a "Drive Thru Day" where donors could drop off contributions at area locations.  ABC11 aired live cut-in spots from 5 am through 8 pm at night.

We are pleased to report that through the incredible outpouring of community support we have reached the goal of raising 6 million pounds for local families!

"In a time when tough financial decisions have to be made in order to make ends meet by more and more of our neighbors at risk in our 34 county service area and by corporations having to watch the bottom line, to see the overwhelming community support of individuals, families, companies coming together to donate more than 6 million pounds is humbling," said Peter Werbicki, President & CEO of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina.
