Kitchens at New Bern TourThe Kitchens of New Bern Tour is a unique opportunity to visit the “heart of the home” in Historic Downtown New Bern residences as well as Tryon Palace’s Kitchen Office and Garden on Saturday, September 28, 2013 from 10 am to 4 pm.

Join homeowners who have opened their kitchens in support of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at New Bern inviting you to garner ideas for designing your own new kitchen or renovating the existing heart of your home. Capture the newest industry ideas and learn about state of the art products from our sponsors. Savor special tastings by local chefs, have your cookbook signed by award winning native cookbook author Bill Smith, and enjoy a day of fun in historic downtown New Bern.

Proceeds from The Kitchens of New Bern Tour benefit the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at New Bern. Since 1980, the Food Bank has been providing food assistance to those in need in our community. In the five counties served by the Food Bank at New Bern, over 50,000 individuals are at risk of hunger. For every dollar donated the Food Bank is able to distribute $10 worth of food or 5 meals.

Tickets can be purchased onsite at the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, 203 South Front Street, on Saturday, September 28 starting at 10 am.

For those who have purchased online tickets: Please bring the receipt printout to the New Bern Riverfront Convention Center, 203 South Front Street, on Saturday, September 28 starting at 10 am to exchange for an official ticket packet that includes a map and listing of the sites.

This is a self guided tour and participants may go at their own pace. There will be docents at each location to tell you about the features of each unique kitchen.

While there will be sample tastings at several of the sites, lunch is not included. A convention center staff member will be happy to provide you with information about restaurant options in the community.
