SANDHILLS BRANCH HOME

The Sandhills Branch of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina serves 4 counties in south central North Carolina. They are Lee, Moore, Richmond and Scotland counties. One county served is shared with the Raleigh Branch, Lee county.

Last year over 5.1 million pounds of food was distributed to 100 agencies in those counties. The Food Bank at Sandhills operates two trucks that traveled over 42,047 miles last year. Volunteers donated over 6,257 hours of their time last year, equivalent to approximately three full-time employees.

In the counties served by the Sandhills branch, over 34,000 individuals are at risk of hunger: 12,000 are children and over 8% are 65 years and over.

In preparation for Hunger Action Month, we're taking the FNS Challenge. Join us and get a sense of what life is like for thousands of people in North Carolina that receive FNS benefits and live on just $4.06 worth of food each day. Moore Co Airport Open House and Food Drive

#FoodBank24: A New Media Telethon
September 26-27, 2014
The date for the third annual 24-Hour Telethon (now named #FoodBank24) has been set for Friday, September 26 starting at 12 noon and airing through September 27 at noon. Watch the show or come to our Sandhills location for volunteering activities and a watch party! Learn more at foodbank24.org.
