Hurricane Matthew Relief

If you live in a Matthew-affected area and need food, the Disaster Ready Partner Agencies on this list are there for you.

Thanks to your support, here's the help we've been able to provide (as of Oct. 20)

In the wake of Hurricane Matthew, thousands of our neighbors are without food, water and basic supplies. The Food Bank CENC is poised to deliver life sustaining food, water, and non-food essentials to the thousands impacted by this storm. If you would like to support our disaster efforts, here's what you can do:

  • Donate Funds: Donate online at foodbankcenc.org/matthew For every $1 donated, the Food Bank can provide 5 meals.
  • Shop our Virtual Food Drive: Buy groceries for affected families through our Virtual Food Drive »
  • Donate Food/Items: During a disaster, these are the items we need the most. We have a strong need for personal hygiene, cleaning, and paper products. (We ask that you make every effort to drop off your food drive at one of our 6 warehouse locations, as our trucks and drivers are working extra hard to make Disaster Relief Deliveries.)
  • Spread Awareness: Encourage your friends to join the Hurricane Matthew Relief efforts. Click to share: Twitter Facebook
  • Volunteer: We need volunteers in the Durham area to collect food donations on Oct. 29 (10am-4pm) and Oct 30 (noon-4pm). Email llandis@foodbankcenc.org for more info & to sign up.

The Durham Branch of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina serves 6 counties including Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, Person, and Vance. In these counties, more than 106,990 people live in food insecure households, 30,750 of whom are children.

Last year we distributed more than 7.6 million pounds of food to our network of 173 partner agencies in the local community. Our volunteers at the branch served 30,132 hours, the equivalent to approximately 14 full-time employees. To learn more, view our Durham Branch Profile.

For every dollar donated, we can provide 5 meals to the Bull City community! Get involved today by making a donation, signing up to volunteer, or hosting a food drive!
