The Durham Branch of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina serves six counties in central North Carolina. They are Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, Person and Vance counties.
Last year over 6.2 million pounds of food was distributed to 172 agencies in those counties. The Food Bank at Durham operates 2 trucks that traveled over 40,652 miles last year. Volunteers donated over 16,605 hours of their time last year, equivalent to over 7 full-time employees
In the counties served by the Durham branch, over 96,000 individuals are at risk of hunger: 30,000 are children and over 6% are 65 years and over.

Students Against Hunger October-December, 2014 Did you know that almost 50% of students in our 34 county service area qualify for free or reduced-price lunch? It is difficult for any student to excel academically when they come to school hungry. So we invite all students, staff, parents and teachers to join our Students Against Hunger food and funds drive to help feed hungry children and their families in our community. World Beer Festival Saturday, October 11 We are thrilled to be the charity beneficiary of this great event at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park on October 11! Food Bank volunteers will be there to accept your non-perishable and monetary donations all day. 5 items or $5 will get you to the front of the ticket line! Durham Bulls Fall Fan Fest Saturday, October 18, 2014 The Durham Bulls will host their annual Fall Fan Fest on Saturday, October 18 at Durham Bulls Athletic Park. Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Jerry Sands will be on hand to sign autographs and fans will be able to take batting practice and play catch on the field! Food Lion Hunger Relief Day Thursday, October 23, 2014 Get ready for Food Lion Hunger Relief Day on October 23th! For the 11th consecutive year, Food Lion will sponsor Hunger Relief Day at the North Carolina State Fair. Bring five (5) cans of Food Lion brand food and receive a ticket for free admission!
