The Durham Branch of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina serves six counties in central North Carolina. They are Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, Person and Vance counties.
Last year over 5.8 million pounds of food was distributed to 167 agencies in those counties. The Food Bank at Durham operates 2 trucks that traveled over 38,000 miles last year. Volunteers donated over 21,000 hours of their time last year: equivalent to over 10 full-time employees
In the counties served by the Durham branch, over 96,000 individuals are at risk of hunger: 30,000 are children and over 6% are 65 years and over.

Heart of Carolina Results ABC11 issued a call to action to viewers in it's 22-county broadcast area on November 16 to kick off the 16th annual Heart of Carolina Food Drive. The drive ended on December 7 with Drive-Thru Day. Volunteers and staff collected food and fund donations at the Kroger on Hillsborough Road in Durham. Learn More »
