A special thanks to the Grandmothers for Peace for their hard work in the Wilmington community. They co-sponsor a "Food for Thought" program (providing books in exchange for food), collected food and served ice cream at Kids Summer Stock in June, and are promoting a permanent "Red Wagon" Food Drive in Wilmington. Thank you!
Thanks to Congressman Brad Miller for volunteering at the Food Bank on the National Day of Service, September 11. He joined the energetic and hard-working students from Campbell University Law School. Together, they made a great team!
Dear Food Bank, On Tuesday employees of the Sheraton Imperial Hotel, along with Cisco Systems, had the opportunity to sort sweet potatos. You may recall we found this one unusual one. Our Executive Chef, Elhaj Tayouga, created "FOOBA: The NC Sweet Potato Dragon ". We hope you have as much fun with this as we have had here at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel.

Thanks so much to Sherry Johnson for holding a concert benefit on her 50th birthday at Mojo's Roadhouse: "Tuning Up to Fight Hunger." Featured musicians included John Dee Holeman, Andy Coats with Drew Questell, E-Train & Mississippi Mike, Hell Camino, Joe Bell & the Stinging Blades, Mel Melton & the Wicked Mojos, & Will McFarlane Band. Concert goers raised 1,076 pounds and $424!
Thank you Inter-fraternity Council & the NC State University Police Dept for their food drive at the NCSU/Gardner Webb football game and unique canstruction competition on the campus brickyard! Over 3,000 pounds of food & $2,500 was collected - providing over 13,000 meals to our communities. Incredible!
Our deepest thanks to Beverly Brevit for her hard work promoting the GE food drive at her workplace. Besides making baked goods to benefit the Food Bank, she also gathered gift certificates & coupons from local restaurants & grocery stores for auction. Great creativity!

Thanks to Timmy Hackett for celebrating his 12th birthday party at the Food Bank and helping out with a warehouse project! He and his friends bagged 6,000 pounds of rice! Thank you!!

We are grateful to Genworth Financial for their recent donation of $50,000 and continued volunteer involvement. Genworth volunteer groups have done it all, from sorting sweet potatos to eggs to food drive. Thank you for your continued partnership!

Thank you, Village Motor Werks, for hosting a "food drive & car smash" and collecing 624 pounds of food and $300. That's enough to provide over 1,800 meals! Thank you for helping to "smash" out hunger!
We are grateful to RTI International, and the employees of RTI, for nominating the Food Bank for a $5,000 donation! For the past 5 years, RTI has contributed over $30,000 and nearly 15,000 pounds of food. Thank you!
Thanks to the News & Observer for their community service project "Feed the Need." This year's event raised over $35,000! Thanks to Walmart for their donation of 11,700 cans from a can sculpture in downtown Raleigh on Earthday. The Walmart Foundation has been a long time partner of the Food Bank, providing a new truck earlier this year and a $30,000 grant during the holidays. Thank you!
