Food Lion Hunger Relief day is one of the largest one-day canned-food drives in the state, held each year to benefit the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina as well as other Food Banks in the region, such as Fayetteville, Winston-Salem and Elizabeth City.

Last year, fairgoers provided over 223,000 pounds of food on Food Lion Hunger Relief Day. In the 23-year history of the event, more than 4.6 million pounds of food have been donated by fairgoers!

If this year’s goal of 250,000 is met, the N.C. State Fair will donate $1,000 to the Food Bank. If donations reach 275,000 pounds, the Fair will donate $2,500. Should donations total 300,000 pounds or more, $5,000 will be donated.

Help make this a record year to support our neighbors in need. Join us Thursday, October 20 at the NC State Fair in Raleigh!
