30 Million Pounds!

Congratulations to the Durham Branch
for reaching a 30 Million Pound Milestone!

Congratulations to Durham for distributing its 30 millionth pound of food on September 9, 2008.  The branch reached this prestigious milestone by providing Abundant Life (a food pantry in Hillsborough) with a box of Reser's Fine Foods cold salad varieties.

“It is humbling to know that our branch has provided more than 25 million meals to children, families, the elderly and those who are simply having a rough time considering the fact that we haven’t even been serving this community for 10 years, yet”, said Pete Sloane, Regional Operations Manager and Durham Operations Manager for the Durham Branch. “It is just another indicator that there is a great need in our community and shows how your donations go right back out the door to those who need it.”

The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina at Durham is located on 708 Gilbert Street and distributes food to over 160 partner hunger relief organizations such as rescue missions, soup kitchens, food pantries, after school programs, and elderly nutrition programs in six counties.
