Find Help

We are responding to the need in our communities following Hurricane Florence directly, and by coordinating with local Partner Agencies across our service area. The agencies on this list represent our primary disaster relief sites – however their availability will depend on the effects of Hurricane Florence in their region. There is also information on authorized emergency shelters, disaster unemployoment assistance, FNS/SNAP benefits, and free legal assistance.

How You Can Help

In the wake of Hurricane Florence, the Food Bank continues to respond to immediate needs across our service area. People are still displaced throughout our 34 counties, and numerous areas are still dealing with effects of downed trees and flooding. Food, water, and supplies are stocked and being distributed to the communities in urgent need - for as long as it is needed. Food Bank CENC is here for the long haul, thanks to you. Your generosity helps the Food Bank provide emergency and increased assistance to our partner agencies, and to those who have lost so much

The most needed items for disaster relief are:
 · High-protein canned meals with pop-top cans (ravioli, soups, spaghetti)
 · Paper goods and products (paper towels/plates/cups/napkins, plastic utensils)
 · Diapers
 · Hygiene products (shampoo, soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hand sanitizer, etc.)
 · Single serving meals that do not require refrigeration or cooking/meals ready to eat
 · Single serving snacks such as raisins & granola bars
 · Peanut Butter
 · Cleaning supplies and disinfectant wipes

florence needed items funds

Your support throughout disaster relief efforts provides essential meals for our hungry neighbors. Together, we can help people in their greatest time of need.  Once disaster relief and recovery needs have been met, any remaining funds and food will be used to support our ongoing hunger-relief efforts.

HOST A FOOD DRIVE

The Durham Branch of the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina serves 6 counties including Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, Person, and Vance. In these counties, more than 106,000 people live in food insecure households, nearly a third of whom are children.

Last year we distributed more than 9.1 million pounds of food (a branch record!) to our network of 211 partner agencies in the local community. Our volunteers at the branch served over 25,000 hours, the equivalent to approximately 12 full-time employees. To learn more, view our Durham Branch Profile.

For every dollar donated, we can provide 5 meals to the Bull City community! Get involved today by making a donation, signing up to volunteer, or hosting a food drive!
