Our kids need you!
During the summer of 2008, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern NC launched a new food drive in an attempt to reverse the historical decrease in donations at a time when the need increases with school children no longer having access to free and reduced meal and after-school programs. Our efforts were successful! For the first time in the history of our organization, donations of fund and funds remained up during the summer. Food and funds collected during the inaugural Kids Summer Stock Campaign provided 1.2 million meals last summer!
Kids Summer Stock 2009 promises to be bigger and better!
 Kids Summer Stock is a community-wide food and funds drive that kicks off on June 5 with a First Friday Celebration in Southern Pines and concludes on July 24th with the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Food Bank at Durham. Through a series of concerts, festivals, and events, collection of food and funds will help fill the empty shelves of Food Bank warehouses in Durham, Greenville, Raleigh, Sandhills and Wilmington at a time when food drive donations tend to slow down and at risk children are out of school and are still in need of three daily meals.
You can support the Food Bank branch in your community by holding food and funds drives or by donating. For every dollar donated, the Food Bank can distribute $8 worth of food, or 4 meals.
Here is how you can get involved:
 Attend an event at one of our branch locations: Each branch will feature a unique and fun event during the months of June and July.
 Sponsor a food drive during the month of June or July: Encourage your company, church or neighborhood to get involved!
 Donate to Kids Summer Stock through the Virtual Food Drive to help stock the shelves and provide meals to kids.
 Use one of our Food Bank Ecards to tell a friend or family member about Kids Summer Stock!
